How a Blog/Instagram Editorial Calendar Kept me Organized (and Anxiety Low)
I took on some special projects in the past couple months. However, the more I took on, the more organized I had to be. In order to manage my stress and anxiety level, I knew I had to create an editorial calendar for my blog post and Instagram content.
I kept building on more to my schedule, and my girlfriend insisted I create a calendar. I was honestly, anti-editorial calendars for quite sometime. Never found the time to do it! However, I caved and realized I needed to manage myself. I wasn’t sure where to begin, so I just started outlining a calendar in excel. Then it quickly manifested in a full monthly calendar covering action points for each day, and allowing myself breaks.
I started with the big pieces - locked in important posting dates, such as video filming, and of course, blog posts. Once I had those dates secured, I filled in the second most important dates, (ie; repurposing a blog post, speaking to a fun trend, or social issues.) You’ll soon find out how to rank your priority posts, which is the right start!
Additionally, I created a key for all my blog posts I want to write. Thought about what I wanted to write, so I could mentally prepare them and start thinking about it.
Once I finalized my month, I felt at ease. I had an organized, holistic approach to my month.
I truly believe an editorial calendar is extremely important. For someone who’s anxiety level has increased tremendously in the past few months, I view this calendar as a measure of relaxation.
If you’re finding it difficulty to start, just begin with a calendar outline and plug in important dates! You’ll be surprised how quickly you can plan each day. Plus, it allows you to be more strategic and think long-term for you account! Furthermore, it also helped my engagement rate!
Hope this helps some of your Instagram stresses :)
