⁣It’s crazy how just a couple hours of light change completely altered my mood and motivation. ⠀

Over the last couple weeks, I’ve seen a drastic change in my motivation and as a result, I would get down on myself for it. Has anyone felt this way over the past month?⠀

Maybe my mind and body needed it? Or, it was a reaction to this ‘Groundhogs Day’ lifestyle mixed with the winter blues? Who knows! ⠀

I had a talk with myself this weekend and decided it was time to get back into it. Wake up early, work out, and do something for myself everyday. ⠀

FALSE - An engaged following is more successful than a large following of unengaged followers. Focus on building an authentic, targeted audience - this will be attractive to brands! ⠀

FALSE - I felt the need to do this everyday but that’s not the case. Post with intent. Have a strong storyline to keep your audience intrigued as opposed to one off frames.⠀

3. Hashtags don’t work⠀
FALSE - hashtags work and tremendously help my reach. Ensure to be strategic and focus on niche hashtags for the best results!⠀

Let’s face it, there’s really no right way to spend Election Day and it's quite impossible to escape the intense anxiety. So here are a few things I'm doing to mitigate stress and improve my mental health today:⠀
⠀
1. Take small breaks, such as yoga stretches, meditation or an easy, self-care routine for a nice distraction.⠀
⠀
2. Call a friend or family member and address your feelings.⠀
- I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. A support system is EVERYTHING. ⠀
⠀
3. Plan out the day. ⠀
- I’ve made a list of things for me to do today to distract myself from the news, and I’ve decided to turn on the TV after dinner this evening. ⠀
⠀
4. Set boundaries with social media.⠀
- I know this is tough, but try to spend no more than 10-15 mins an hour on social. Maybe stick to following one account for news updates? Alarms also help me manage my time and stay focused!⠀

5. Don’t stay up late, go to bed at your normal bedtime. Your rest and state of mind is a priority.⠀
⠀

After my appendix surgery, I couldn’t wear jeans or my favorite pants. Therefore, knits became the go-to during recovery.⠀

This @staud.clothing dress was the first fashionable piece I wore post surgery and for the first time I felt myself! It was comfortable, colorful, and perfect for fall. ⠀⠀

I said this awhile back but I needed a gentle reminder 😘⠀

There are days I’m super productive and days I can’t manage to get anything done. Things happen - life changes, a pandemic, an uncomfortable election... you get the point.⠀

I need to remind myself that even if I check off one box on my list or answer one email, I’m making progress and I’m one step closer to my goal. In my mind it’s a little win for the day ❤⠀

So as you go about your day, know that progress is a reflection of just DOING. A little is just enough. We can’t be 💯 productive all the time. Our bodies need rest and we are worthy of that.
